Tutorial #4

This was the last tutorial with David. We discussed how the production work was coming along and I updated him on what techniques i have been using and the issues that I have come across. The only issue being the music and the tough task of finding free royalty free music to match the animation. We discussed the possibility of finding an external composer but I made the decision to carry on the search for music.

Tutorial #3

Me and David caught up on how I was sticking to my learning outcomes. We went through my research and discussed how was to apply it to the production. We spent a great deal of time talking about how I was to supply the music to for the animation. We discussed the possibility of composing music but quickly dismissed that as i am not a composer. We decided the best idea was to source the best suited music.

Tutorial #2

This meting was all about finalising my personal learning outcomes. We discussed the possibility of adjusting them to be compliant and less broad in terms of topics. I brought David up to date with the ongoing research I have done and discussed how was to go about the production stage of my Animation.

Tutorial #1

This tutorial was to discuss what work and been done so far and what work needed to be done.

We discussed my group meeting and what the animators required me to do and narrowed down my Aims, Objectives and Outcomes. This would then allow me to research more in depth of my personal outcomes of the project.

When discussing the musical score, David heavily suggested sourcing royalty free music or acquiring an external composer. This was due to the fact that I am not being employed to write the musical score as that is an entirely different craft in itself. This is so I could spend more time creating the sound of Time Capsule.

Team Meetings

Team Meeting #4- 15/05/2017

This was the final meeting for the animators to approve the overall sound. They were incredibly happy with the product the I provided and impressed that it brought the animation together. After they approved my sound it was then a simple case of exerting the audio and handing it over to them.

Team Meeting #3- 17/04/2017

As I was well into the production stages of my sound for the animation I showed the animators where I was in terms of sound. They gave me feedback as to what works and what doesn’t. This meeting was successful as it gave me the ability to approve upon my sound for the animation.

Team Meeting #2- 15/02/2017

This was a quick catch up to discuss where we were in the project. I gave them an update on what research I have done and they told me where they were in the animation stages. Overall a successful meeting.

Team Meeting #1- 26/01/2017

After a week of discussing the project and finalising wether we would be working together, it was time to meet up and discuss the it face to face.

The objective of the meeting was to discuss the sound requirements that the animators wanted from me and what they wanted from the sound design.

We discussed when the animation needed to be done by so I could piece the sound design together. We didn’t come to a precise date but it should be done by the beginning of April.

The animators gave me benchmarks to look at;  the main one being Avatar.

What they are expecting from me:

  • A new world sound scape representing the planet in the animation
  • A character design that connects with audiences emotions
  • Heavy SFX that can push the narrative forward
  • A musical score that sits in the background and not noticed too much by the audience (low underscore)

Overall a good start to the project. A productive meeting allowing us to progress to the next stage of the project.
